I can't believe how cold it has been this winter. If you didn't know, I despise the cold. Like, "Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day", I want to move to Australia, and come back in the spring. It's been so blimey cold, the dogs don't even want to go outside. So, give me a warm, fuzzy blanket, a good book and see 'ya later mate!
I have to push myself everyday to sometimes do the minimal, the basics. Get up and breathe. Go to work, get the kids...etc. Get up and keep going! In Ayurvedic medicine and thought this is the time of Kapha, a time that is slow, and sluggish. So we must put some fire under our derrieres and keep going. Do some Sun Salutations, eat some spices, warm up and get out!! Have you noticed the silly craze of "SNOWGA"? Well, why not? You can warm up after you do your favourite yoga pose in the snow...(send a pic to us and we will post it!)
Since I am the queen of procrastination, it is now the middle of February and I am starting to feel the push of Spring, the buzz of the earth telling me to tune in and start moving forward. The Ancient Celts referred to it as Imbolc, the Romans called it Lupercalia, which morphed into St. Valentine's Day. A time filled with images of buds and seeds and swollen pregnant bellies, images of what is to come. The hope eternal of new life and love.
This Valentine's Day I will be spending time with my first girl, Madeleine. We are going to University interviews, a new beginning for her. A time filled with a little angst, nostalgia and plans for a picture perfect future. I can't wait to continue to watch her grow. She is destined for amazing things.
What is making you excited? What is mulling about your thoughts? Is it time to learn a new language? Plan a trip? Learn to dance? How about sitting down, meditating, pondering the possibility that you can do ANYTHING! After your nap, of course.
I wish you love, hope and new beginnings,
